Professional preparation | Door & furniture lacquering

Professional preparation

We sand, fill cracks and imperfections, and apply sealing primer before lacquering. This preparation is what separates a finish that lasts years from one that peels within months.

If your doors are structurally sound but stuck with an outdated colour, surface scratches, or a finish you simply no longer like, lacquering is the smartest solution. For a fraction of the replacement cost, we leave them looking brand new in the colour of your choice: white, grey, black, beige, or any RAL shade. It is one of the most requested renovations in homes across Cádiz and San Fernando, where many properties have solid-wood doors in great structural shape but with dated finishes.

The process demands proper preparation: we sand the entire surface for adhesion, fill any imperfections with filler, apply primer, and then two coats of lacquer with drying time between each. We work with water-based lacquer (less odour, faster drying) or polyurethane (greater hardness), depending on how the piece will be used. The result is a smooth, even finish that stands up to daily wear — the same quality you would expect from a factory door.

FAQ

What you ask us most.

Is it worth lacquering instead of replacing the door?

If the door is structurally sound (no deep dents or warping), absolutely: lacquering leaves it looking brand new for around €120 per unit, compared to €250-350 for a full replacement with fitting. If we inspect the door and find damage that would compromise the result, we will tell you before we start.

How many days does it take to lacquer all the doors in a flat?

Usually between 3 and 5 working days for a full flat, including drying time between coats. The doors can be used again the day after the final coat, although we recommend avoiding hard knocks during the first week while the finish fully cures.

Can kitchen cabinets be lacquered?

Yes, as long as the cabinets are structurally sound. We lacquer fronts, drawers, and cabinet doors, and the result is a refreshed kitchen for a fraction of a full replacement. For kitchens we use polyurethane lacquer because of its superior resistance to moisture and grease.

What type of lacquer do you use?

We work with two types depending on the use case: water-based lacquer, which has less odour and dries faster (ideal for interior doors and bedrooms), and polyurethane lacquer, which offers greater hardness and resistance (recommended for kitchens and bathrooms). We will advise you on the best option for your specific situation.

Can you lacquer in any colour?

Yes, we work with the full RAL colour chart, so you can choose any shade. The most requested colours are white RAL 9010, grey RAL 7035, and matte black, but we will match any colour that fits your decor. We can also colour-match an existing shade if you bring us a sample.

Which areas of Cádiz do you cover?

We cover Cádiz city, San Fernando, Chiclana de la Frontera, Puerto Real, El Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, and nearby towns across the province. If you are in another part of Cádiz, get in touch and we will let you know if we can help.
