Substrate preparation
The wall must be perfectly smooth and free of imperfections. We fill, sand and apply primer to achieve the ideal base. In Venetian plaster, any substrate defect is magnified, which is why this phase is especially meticulous.
Stucco layer application
We apply two to four layers of plaster with a stainless-steel trowel, crossing passes to create the characteristic marbling effect. Each layer is left to dry and lightly sanded before the next. It is artisan work that requires experience and patience.
Polishing and natural shine
The final layer is burnished with the trowel at high speed to generate friction heat that closes the pores and produces a natural satin sheen. No varnishes are used: the shine comes from the mineral itself. The more it is polished, the more depth and luminosity the surface acquires.
Protective waxing
We apply natural or synthetic wax that protects the surface, makes cleaning easy and adds an extra touch of depth to the colour. In bathrooms and damp areas we use waterproofing wax that prevents water from penetrating the plaster.
Natural and custom colours
Venetian plaster admits a wide range of colours: pearly whites, stone greys, sands, terracotta, greens and blues. Mineral pigments produce deep, irregular tones that vary with the light, like genuine marble.
Clean-up and handover
We remove protections, clean the room and hand over the walls ready. We explain how to maintain the plaster: clean with a damp cloth and annual re-waxing to preserve the shine.
Venetian plaster is one of the oldest and most elegant decorative techniques in existence.
