Is it worth lacquering instead of replacing the door?
If the door is structurally sound (no deep dents or warping), absolutely: lacquering leaves it looking brand new for around €120 per unit, versus €250-350 for a full replacement with fitting. If we inspect the door and find damage that would compromise the result, we tell you before we start.
How many days does it take to lacquer all the doors in a flat?
Usually between 3 and 5 working days for a full flat, including drying time between coats. The doors can be used again the day after the final coat, though we recommend avoiding hard knocks during the first week while the finish fully cures.
Do you remove the doors or lacquer them in place?
It depends. For a flawless spray finish we prefer to remove the leaves and lacquer them in controlled conditions, refitting them when done. When that is not feasible, we protect the area and lacquer in place. The frame and architrave are always lacquered in situ so the whole set looks uniform.
Can you lacquer in any colour?
Yes, we work with the full RAL chart. The most requested are white RAL 9010, grey RAL 7035 and matte black, but we do any shade. If you want new doors to match others already lacquered, we colour-match from a sample.
Do you also lacquer the frame and architraves?
Yes, always. Lacquering only the leaf and leaving the frame in the old colour is very noticeable and spoils the result. The price per door includes the leaf, frame and architraves on both faces so the whole set looks freshly installed.
If your doors are sound but stuck with a dated colour or scratches, lacquering them is far cheaper than replacing and the result matches a factory door. We sand, prime and lacquer in your chosen colour, on both faces, with hardware checked.
Many flats in Cádiz and San Fernando keep solid-wood doors in perfect structural shape but with a decades-old finish: yellowed varnish, sapele or dark oak that dulls the home. Lacquering them white or in a light tone completely transforms the sense of light in hallways and rooms, at a fraction of the cost of replacing them with fitting.
The process is what makes the difference: we sand the whole surface for adhesion, fill knocks and imperfections, apply sealing primer and then lacquer in two coats with drying time between. We use water-based lacquer (less odour, ideal in an occupied home) or polyurethane (greater hardness). We check and adjust the hardware, hinges, handles, latches, when refitting, because a freshly lacquered door that doesn't close properly ruins the result.
